Outreach Starter Kits
Once you assemble a few basic outreach kits, you can continue reaching out for just the cost of replacement supplies. Most items can be purchased at your local discount store, but you may also find good deals by looking up janitorial supply companies online. Search janitorial vendors online or ask your church facilities team who they use.
Car Wash
· Assemble in large plastic tubs with rope handles. Best purchased in spring or at end of summer clearance
· 2 Free car wash signs (2-4 depending on location… intersections need more signs)
· Stack of 50-100 outreach giving cards to give to “customers” in Ziploc bag to keep dry
· 1-Plastic Barrel to hold contents
· 3-Hoses (50-75 ft.)
· 2-Spray nozzles
· 4-Big Sponges (make sure they don’t have a brillo pad backing)
· 4-Chamois or towels
· 2-Rolls of Paper towels
· 2-Bottles Windex
· 2-Tire scrubbers
· 2-Bottles of Car Wash Soap
· 2-squeegees (optional)
· 4-buckets
· 1-Y-connector for splitting 1 hose into 2
Face Painting
· Assemble in plastic tool box from the school supply or car tool section of your local discount store
· 1 bottle each of red, blue, yellow, green, black, and white face paints
· handful of q-tips in Ziploc baggie
· small plastic cups for pouring paint into so that more than 2 people can use paints at once
· Travel size baby wipes packet
· Napkins or paper towels
Leaf Raking
· Enough rakes for at least half of your group
· Lawn trash bags
· Knowledge of whether the community you are serving will clear leaves raked to the curb or if you need to bag and dispose of collected leaves.
Manicure
· Assemble in plastic tool box from the school supply or car tool section of your local discount store
· 3 nail files – pink emery boards for fine and superfine nails
· 3 bottles of clear nail polish
· 2 bottles of a neutral/light nail polish
· 2 bottles of red/bright nail polish
· 1 bottle of nail polish remover
· 1 bottle lotion
· 15 cotton balls or cotton wipes in a Ziploc baggie
· handful of q-tips in a Ziploc baggie
· Note: most nursing homes will not allow clippers or anything with a sharp edge to be used on their residents, for health reasons.
Restroom Cleaning
· Assemble in bathroom carrier, best found during back-to-college season
· 1 Toilet Cleaning Brush
· 1 Toilet Bowl Cleaner
· 1 Bottle 409
· 1 Bottle Windex
· 1 Roll Paper Towels
· 1 Door Stop
· 10 pair Latex Gloves in Ziploc baggie
· 1 Can Lysol Disinfectant Spray
· 2-Scrubbie Sponges
· 4-5 urinal screens
· 4 brown trash bags
Snow Shoveling
· Snow Shovels
· It can also be helpful to take some de-icer in a 5-gallon bucket from the home improvement store with a scoop.
Window Washing
· 3-4 rolls of paper towels
· 5 squeegees with telescoping handles
· 5 bottles of Windex
Windshield Washing
· 3 rolls of paper towels
· 3 squeegees
· 3 bottles of Windex
· Flyers to put on windows
